Director Continuing Education, National Comprehensive Cancer Network®

This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Finance/Chief Financial Officer (accreditation, department operations and administrative areas) and to the Chief Executive Officer (clinical content) and is responsible for the NCCN educational program including grant development, accreditation, CE compliance, strategic planning, funding, supporter relationships, reporting, forecasting and budgeting, and CE Department staff. Some overnight travel is required.

This position is located in Fort Washington, PA.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage NCCN educational program development, planning, funding, and reporting
  • Develop and implement NCCN CE strategic initiatives
  • Develop revenue model for continuing medical education programs based on evolving clinical research, treatment options, NCCN Guideline updates, and supporters’ educational strategies; work with NCCN Senior Management to prioritize programs based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to perceived value to provider, community, and patients, as well as funding opportunities
  • Develop, maintain and expand relationships and funding opportunities with current and new supporters
  • Communicate NCCN capabilities to supporters and maintain understanding of industry trends and needs via in-person meetings held on a regular basis
  • Oversee the overall grant submission process, including proposal development, grant submission, grant reporting, and reconciliations
  • Supervise reaccreditation procedures, ensuring continued compliance
  • Manage, mentor, and supervise CE Department employees
  • Oversee Educational Program Advisory Committee (EPAC), including incorporation of recommendations into overall future activity planning and NCCN CE Department strategic plan
  • Collaborate with internal NCCN teams to increase efficiency, productivity, and communication
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Senior Management of NCCN’s various functional areas
  • Develop Member Institution CE Department relationships as applicable
  • Develop and manage effective and efficient CE Provider collaborations
  • Establish external presence and recognition of NCCN in the continuing education community through committee or other active involvement with the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Healthcare Professions
  • Review and update Mission Statement for CE Department on a yearly basis as required by annual department quality improvement initiative(s)
  • Work with CE Department staff to develop key policies and procedures for the Department; review and update on a yearly basis
  • Provide annual forecast of revenue from CE grant funding
  • Assist Accounting Department with grant budget preparation and annual budget for the CE Department
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION/RELATED EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Education or related field or equivalent experience with clinical education (e.g., nursing, pharmacy, etc.) focus
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining relationships with funders and securing CE grant funding or working as a provider of CE grant funding
  • Knowledge of OIG/PhRMA, ACCME, ACPE, and ANCC Guidelines
  • Experience in industry CE, accreditation, or as a non-accredited provider of CE a plus
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external staff, managers, physicians, and funders
  • Absolute attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner
