Director – Center for Social Policy and Community Development Temple University-School of Social Administration

The School of Social Administration, Temple University, seeks an Executive Director for its Center for Social Policy & Community Development (CSPCD). The Center advances the academic and social impact of the School of Social Administration by facilitating access to resources and opportunities for vulnerable and under-served individuals and communities. As a catalyst for social change, CSPCD partners with faculty, students and the social service community by providing leadership and achieving results in advocacy, direct services, education and research.

The Executive Director will head a staff that currently numbers approximately 45 staff people, and will facilitate strategic planning and resource development for the center as well as supervise the response to grant and contract requests. The Executive Director will be the Center’s Chief Operating Officer, reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Social Administration (SSA). In consultation with the Dean, the Executive Director will establish an external advisory board and be expected to institute collaborative arrangements within SSA, with other academic and research units of the university, and with community, governmental, and professional groups.

The Director will promote and further develop the three principal goals of the Center, which are directed at (1) community capacity building (2) public sector partnerships and professional development of social work students. The Director will work in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, the Associate Dean for Professional Development and the Business Manager to realize these goals. It is expected that the Director will network with various university academic, research and service units to facilitate center programs and opportunities.

A successful candidate must meet the following criteria:
* Have an MSW and doctorate in social work or related discipline
* Scholarship and teaching commensurate with rank of Associate or Full Professor
* Active research agenda (with publishing record) that focuses on workforce development, university-community partnerships, human service/social service organizations, urban policy, community capacity building and/or leadership development
* Demonstrated experience obtaining and administering grants (research, training and/or evaluation)
* Experience engaging with community organizations and public institutions around research and technical assistance
* Experience managing diverse staff
* Teaching experience in macro social work practice (management, community, policy).
