Digital Media Specialist, ASPIRA
Posted by ASPIRA on September 25, 2017
ASPIRA’s Digital Media Specialist is responsible for creating and managing digital content in all forms. The Communications Department of ASPIRA shares the work of ASPIRA Schools and programs, informs the public about opportunities and school openings, and maintains lines of communication between staff members. This requires a diverse set of skills, including but not limited to writing, research, search engine optimization, social media management, photography and basic graphic design. However, serious knowledge of professional graphic design programs like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is not required. Additionally, this staff member will assist the Communications Coordinator in contracting freelance professionals, producing traditional media (print, radio and television), managing community partnerships and crafting public relations pieces. Candidates should also have a working knowledge of search engine advertising methods. Candidates with knowledge of Google advertising methods and PPC advertising will be preferred.
While all of the skills above are valued, not all are required. Primarily, we need a strong writer who is excited to learn new skills and gain a variety of experience each day. The staff member will work mainly out of the ASPIRA Headquarters in Hunting Park, but will often visit ASPIRA Schools to photograph and document activities for the purposes of creating news and content. This will require them to undergo the background checks which are needed for teachers and other full-time school staff members. Candidates will also be asked to provide writing samples and/or complete test work to demonstrate their writing abilities. Schedule flexibility will be offered, as long as the team member is able to consistently work 24 hours per week.
