DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (2) POSITIONS

The United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania’s mission is to harness, leverage and strategically invest the collective power of donors, advocates and volunteers, to drive measurable results that improve the lives of people in our region. We have an excellent opportunity for two professionals to join our team as Development Officer in the Resource Development Department. The ideal individuals are responsible for securing revenue to support UWSEPA’s community impact mission. The Development Officer develops and manages relationships, organizes and supports workplace fundraising campaigns, and cultivates and stewards corporate and individual donors in order to achieve fundraising goals. The focus of this position is 75% external and 25% internal.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree; two (2) to four (4) years successful relationship management experience required (development/fundraising or sales); United Way fundraising experience desirable.

Essential Functions:

Relationship Management/Fundraising

•Assist in developing strategies and implement strategies/tactics designed to build relationships and maximize financial support for UWSEPA.
•Proactively develop and advance comprehensive relationship-building/fundraising plans for specific campaign divisions, accounts and individual donors/prospects. Strategically manage the full relationship continuum for research, identification and prioritizing of donors/prospects though cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
•Generate corporate contributions, sponsorships, employee campaign contributions and major/leadership gifts from individual employees.
•Manage one or two high-value and/or high-potential, strategic corporate accounts involving multiple relationships and complex campaign execution.
•Cultivate and steward relationships with a prioritized portfolio of existing corporate partners and individual donors. Identify, cultivate and secure support from new corporate partners and workplace-based individuals.
•Conduct regular, personal and meaningful interactions with priority donors/prospects through events, face-to-face meetings and conversations.
•Ensure appropriate acknowledgement and stewardship for all donors. Write personalized communications for high-value and high-potential donors/prospects.
•Manage financial data and constituent information utilizing UWSEPA’s relational database. Track and report constituent information and development activities in a timely fashion. Develop specific gift projections to assist with overall revenue projections and revenue management plans.
•Oversee the preparation of donor pledge information to be submitted for processing, ensuring appropriate procedures are followed to yield appropriate, timely and accurate acknowledgements for all donors.

Volunteer Management/Engagement

•Identify, cultivate and recruit corporate leaders to join annual Campaign Cabinet.
•Provide direction and support for Division Chairs and Volunteers.
•Manage volunteer relationships to maximize their engagement and effectiveness.
•Recruit corporate volunteers, both individuals and groups, to participate in UWSEPA volunteer initiatives and activities.

Leadership/Management

•Supervise seasonal Loaned Executives assigned to support specific campaign divisions and activities.
•Supervise Development Coordinator assigned to team.

Product Knowledge
Develop thorough understand of:

•UWSEPA vision, mission, value proposition & strategic objectives.
•UWSEPA community impact agenda and priorities.
•Volunteer engagement opportunities and mobilization strategies
•Specific community impact programs and project (products)
•Messaging platform and communication tools

The successful candidate will possess superior relationship management skills; cultivation & stewardship of individual relationships; exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to network and strong oral and written communication skills; he/she is a compelling public speaker/presenter with demonstrated ability to secure gifts/close sales and achieve goals. He/she must possess excellent critical thinking and analysis skills; have the ability to analyze and interpret data and the ability to produce results independently, by persuading/motivating others. The ideal candidates possess outstanding organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and have effective problem-solving skills. He/she will have access to personal transportation (car) and must be available to attend some early morning or evening events; minimal weekend events.
