The United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey in Philadelphia, PA is currently searching for a Development Officer of Major Gifts to assist the SVP of Strategic Philanthropy and the AVP of Major and Special Gifts in executing the strategy for Major Gift donors in support of annual strategic goals and United Way’s Impact fund.
•The statements below reflect the items considered necessary to describe the essential functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
•Cultivate, solicit and manage a portfolio of 200+ major gift prospects with the ultimate goal of increasing giving in support of United Way’s annual strategic goals and Impact fund.
•Manage the solicitation, cultivation, and acknowledgment of donors with gifts $5,000 and above. Role includes a focus on cultivating donors who are giving below $5,000 and have the capacity and inclination to increase their support.
•Work closely with AVP of Major and Special Gifts to lead strategy for the Visionary Circle, and build a pipeline and moves management plan for Visionary circle donors with an interest and inclination to be a part of the Tocqueville Society.
•Assist with Major Gift team events, programs, and communications.
•Provide volunteer management and support to volunteers providing assistance with Visionary Circle ($5000 donors) strategy and solicitation
•Identify new sources of giving and develop prospect solicitation plans
•Collaborate with workplace staff on soliciting lapsed workplace donors
•Collaborate with Communications and other internal staff in the development of communication materials designed for Visionary Circle donors and prospects (correspondence, brochures, and all printed membership information, etc.)
•Manage the efficient, timely and accurate pledge processing and data entry of donor information, and the generation of accurate and timely reports to measure the progress of Visionary Circle giving and one’s portfolio.
•This position manages the research tools and vendors that supply them
•This position deals with all levels of internal and external staff, including cultivation of major donors, foundations, and volunteers.
•This position is accountable to deliver on tracking, reporting, customer service and data management in the Major gifts area.
