POSITION OPENING
Job Title: Development Director
Position Description:
This job exists for the primary purpose of planning, implementing, and organizing all aspects of fundraising within a comprehensive development effort, working closely with and under the supervision of the Executive Director
Reports to: Executive Director Supervises: Development Associate
Duties/Tasks:
? Produce an annual and long-term development plan. Meet goals and objectives.
? Create, coordinate and implement annual appeal, foundation and corporate proposal writing, major gifts and planned giving plan
? Oversee quality control of gifts processing system and donor database
? Research, develop and cultivate relationships with current and prospective funders
? Provide relevant information to Executive Director regarding current and prospective funders
? Work with Executive Director to identify and cultivate new donors and institutions
? Work closely with board members in an effort to cultivate their sources of prospective funders
? Supervise development associate in managing grants-related paperwork
? Develop timeline and prepare publications including annual report, newsletters, brochure
? Interview alumni and current scholars for newsletter and website articles
? Arrange for school visits for major and prospective donors
? Prepare proposals that accurately represent WWS to its constituencies
? Produce monthly reports including gifts received from individuals, corporations, and foundations
? Serve as key staff liaison for the Board of Trustees? Development Committee
? Serve as key staff liaison in the coordination of special events and other fundraising activities
? Coordinate efforts of volunteers relating to the development effort
Qualifications
1. Strong belief in the mission of the organization
2. Excellent grant writing, verbal, organizational, computer, supervisory, and interpersonal skills
3. High level of motivation, energy, enthusiasm, creativity
4. 5+ years of development experience and demonstrated success in all aspects of development work
5. Knowledge of Greater Philadelphia?s funding community
6. Experience with database management
7. Bachelor?s Degree
