Development Director, University City District
University City District (UCD) is a placemaking partnership of anchor institutions, businesses and community members that invests in world-class public spaces, addresses public maintenance and public safety issues, brings life to commercial corridors, promotes job growth and innovation, and connects low income residents to career opportunities.
We have launched a search for a Development Director. This results-driven professional will be a key member of the UCD leadership team, responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing strategies to cultivate donors and sponsors.
Position reports to Executive Director, and plays a critical support role in an organization that has grown from $5.9 million to $9.1 million in revenues over three years.
Responsibilities Work with Executive Director to shape and execute University City District’s annual fundraising plan; Assist Executive Director and Program Directors in management and further cultivation of foundation funders; Develop and launch corporate sponsorship and corporate giving programs; Develop and launch strategies for pursuing significant sources of public funding and for securing funds to support major capital projects; Reinvigorate annual individual giving campaign; Expand existing successes in tapping national funding sources; Develop and track all funding proposals and progress reports; Research and cultivate new prospects; Lead the upgrade and maintenance of donor information system; enter and manage data on gifts and prospects.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree; Five or more years experience in development role at Philadelphia-area nonprofit organization; Demonstrated experience in corporate and foundation fundraising;
Superior written communication skills;
Excellent oral communications skills and people skills;
Ability to develop budgets and comprehend financial reporting requirements of complex grants;
Ability to synthesize ideas across disparate programs of a multi-faceted organization;
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail;
Ability to work quickly and on deadline in an entrepreneurial, high-growth environment.
