With 20 years experience, Spiral Q collaborates with communities to creatively activate civic life and mobilize members in the advancement of social justice and cultural equity. Through the production of public arts projects, education, and cultural organizing, Spiral Q teaches practical skills in innovation, collaboration, equitable decision-making, community organizing, and resourcefulness. Spiral Q sustains our work through a broad base of individual giving, foundation and government grants, in kind contributions, and fees for services. Spiral Q seeks a dynamic, creative, and entrepreneurial development director to lead the Q’s public relations and fundraising efforts. The Development Director will (with the Executive Director) design and execute a strategic and comprehensive fundraising plan. Ideal candidates will be strategic thinkers with a strong commitment to social justice and the arts with demonstrated results in fund procurement.
JOB SUMMARY
Spiral Q ’s Development Director (Director) designs and delivers Spiral Q’s fund development strategies and supporting public relations activities. The Director provides strategic leadership, management, and vision; serves as the primary staff liaison to Spiral Q donors and funders; and keeps the Board of Directors informed of fund development progress. The Director will ultimately be responsible for developing the Q’s annual fundraising plan to include individual giving, grants, and corporate sponsorships. The Director is responsible for organizational public relations and visibility, successfully positioning Spiral Q’s mission and value to all stakeholders. The Director supervises fundraising staff (volunteer, paid, and consultants) and works collaboratively with other directors to ensure the advancement of Spiral Q’s mission. Working with the board and staff, they will strengthen and cultivate a network of stakeholders and allies deeply invested in sustaining Spiral Q’s work.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The Development Director is responsible for the leadership, management, and vision of Spiral Q’s public relations and fundraising activities; including foundation, corporate and government grant solicitation and management, individual donor solicitation, and special events.
• Develop and drive contributed giving program directed at individual, institutional, and corporate donors.
• Develop and drive public relations and visibility-raising strategies and tactics in conjunction with Executive Director, Board of Directors and staff
• Provide leadership and direction on the fundraising activities of the Board
• Conduct prospect research to identify, cultivate and solicit new foundation and corporate support
• Provide regular reporting on all fundraising and public relations activities
• Coordinate special events (house parties, dinners, salons, and an annual gala or convening)
• Cultivate relationships with current and prospective individual donors and foundations and lead solicitation activities
• Manage fundraising database and administration to include: donor records, acknowledgement, and reporting
• Manage volunteer and paid staff who support fundraising/PR
• Stay abreast of key advancements, opportunities, and current trends in the field of arts, advocacy, and community practice

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The position requires any combination of the following education, experience, and measurable performance which demonstrates the capability to perform the duties of this position:
• Commitment to Spiral Q’s mission, vision and values
• Three to five years of fundraising experience in results oriented organization, arts or advocacy organization preferred; Proven track record of successfully meeting fundraising goals
• Ability to develop strong relationships with donors, funders, stakeholders, board and staff
• Strong project management expertise with proven ability to accomplish deliverables on schedule
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
• Advocate of social, racial, and economic justice; Knowledge of anti-oppression and anti-racist principles
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

SALARY & BENEFITS: This is a full-time exempt position with benefits. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision, with paid holidays, vacation and personal leave.
