Development Director, Part-time
The Mill Creek Farm (http://www.millcreekurbanfarm.org), a leader in the food justice and urban farming movement in the Philadelphia region, seeks an experienced development professional for this newly-created part-time position. The Development Director will be responsible for developing a donor management plan and soliciting individual donations; identifying grant opportunities and writing grant applications; and organizing fundraising events, including the organization’s large annual fundraiser.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement an individual giving campaign that includes direct contact with potential donors, as well as other forms of solicitation and marketing.
• Identify, cultivate and solicit donations from likely individual, corporate and institutional donors.
• Work closely with the Executive Director, Board, and volunteers to organize a large annual fundraising event (typically held in December).
• Identify, cultivate, and solicit business and institutional sponsors for the annual fundraiser.
• Work closely with the Board’s finance committee to identify and implement fundraising events and initiatives in addition to the December fundraiser.
• Work with the Executive Director to identify and respond to a wide variety of grant opportunities in the region.
• Develop supporting materials to solicit donations and other financial support.
Qualifications:
• 3 to 5 years experience in fundraising (experience with individual giving strongly preferred)
• Experience working within the environmental, urban agriculture, food access arena. Knowledge of granting organizations within the Philadelphia region would be a plus.
• Demonstrated success in raising funds through donor campaigns, grant writing, and fundraising events.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
