Development Associate: Membership & Individual Giving, Pennsylvania SPCA

Description:

As part of a dynamic development team, the Development Associate: Membership and Individual Giving manages our relationship with our 30,000 members (lapsed and current). He/she is the first line of contact for these supporters and is charged with responding to all of their questions and concerns. He/she is responsible for the Pennsylvania SPCA’s active direct mail program, which will include working with a direct mail company, designing pieces, editing copy, collaborating with the Development Director on mail strategies, working on increasing online donations, and reporting monthly on revenue. A marketing background is highly desirable.

The Development Associate develops and maintains management systems to track and benchmark individual giving progress using fundraising software. He/she will also draft and produce marketing materials for the Pennsylvania SPCA individual giving programs, including brochures, web-text, newsletter copy, monthly e-blasts, and direct mail. Experience with graphic and/or web design is much desired.

The Development Associate must develop collaborative solicitation models to fully cultivate and engage the Pennsylvania SPCA’s supporters, including “sponsor a pet” programs, online tributes, and naming opportunities. He/she meets with supporters as necessary and cultivates them using a Moves Management philosophy. He/she must be people-oriented and comfortable speaking with supporters about the Pennsylvania SPCA.

The Development Associate is not responsible for planned or major gifts, but will work as part of the development team to identify prospects and assist in donor cultivation. The Development Associate will cross-train with the Database Coordinator, so a good mastery of database systems and great organizational skills are a must, as is an ability to train and retain volunteer support.

Along with the rest of the development team, the Development Associate will drive donor engagement and acknowledgment strategies. This will include working with the Special Events Planner to develop signature donor recognition events.
