Job description
NOTE: This position is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Applicants must be available to interview at our Administrative Offices, no travel reimbursements are available.
The Development Associate is a member of the Development Team, responsible for carrying out Bethesda Project’s mission through creative fundraising efforts and communications and branding strategies. This position requires a solid understanding of fundraising tactics as well as an understanding of Bethesda Project’s homeless population and programs.
Supervised by: Director of Development.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage extensive Raiser’s Edge donor database, with competency in completing queries, performing exports, and producing reports to track trends.
- Assist in planning and implementing annual appeal.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of annual fundraising event, with a current targeted goal of $250k including sponsor and gift solicitation, site preparation, guest registration and coordination of volunteers for the event; and other assistance with other special events, as needed.
- Monitor website for updates, including copy and graphics on a regular basis to keep information up-to-date and accurate.
- Manage social media sites for Bethesda Project to ensure they are up-to-date.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications department to provide dynamic content for social media sites.
- Work collaboratively with Director of Development on publications, grant proposals and fundraising initiatives.
- Assist other key administrative staff in maintaining a consistent organizational image and branding; offer input and assistance in meeting marketing, public relations, and communication needs.
- Directly communicate and build relationships with key Bethesda Project donors and volunteers.
- Minimum of two years’ fundraising experience.
- Prior special event experience, preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to articulate Bethesda Project’s mission with energy, passion, and commitment.
- Proficiency in using Raiser’s Edge software.
- Computer literacy with a proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and Drupal.
- Desktop publishing experience, incl. proficiency in Adobe CS2 software suite.
- Other duties as assigned or directed.
