Providence Center is a faith-based neighborhood outreach organization supporting our neighbors in the Fairhill/West Kensington community. Working with immigrants, refugees, and the native born, we offer adult ESL and computer classes; an after school program, summer camp, and teen mentors program for children and youth; and spiritual support activities for women. The organization was founded by, and continues to operate in the spirit of, the Society of the Holy Child Jesus.
Providence Center looks for mission-driven employees who have a passion for empowerment through education, who bring an open and entrepreneurial spirit, and who possess deep, personal commitments to accompaniment and solidarity. The Development and Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for fundraising and volunteer management, including grant and report writing, donor cultivation and recognition, volunteer and donor tracking, volunteer service events, and preparing content for social, print, and digital media. Candidates must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, experience with technology, and openness to providing direct support for programs and special events when needed. The Coordinator will report to the Executive Director.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience
Two years experience with proven success in development activities, such as grant writing and reporting, donor cultivation, and/or marketing.
Prior volunteer or work experience in communities with large immigrant populations and socio-economic diversity.
Progressive responsibility in supervising staff or volunteers.
Knowledge
Working knowledge of the concepts of nonprofit management, including how to communicate the mission and vision of the organization to external audiences
Understanding of donor/volunteer cultivation, tracking human and fiscal resources, and managing donor/volunteer relationships
Awareness of current trends in development and fundraising, as well as marketing and public relations for faith-based non-profits.
Skills and Abilities
Written communication – ability to edit work for spelling and grammatical errors, present numerical data effectively, read/interpret written information, and meet writing deadlines.
Oral communication – ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and demonstrate group presentation skills.
Adaptability and flexibility– adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and is able to handle change, delays or unexpected events.
Planning/organizing – have efficient time management skills and ability to prioritize projects to meet deadlines in a rapidly changing work environment.
Quality control – to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, to ensure quality and a high standard of professionalism across written and verbal communication.
Software competency – Strong computer skills, including extensive knowledge of internet research and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
Cultural competence and teamwork – must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.
