Overview
The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians is seeking an exceptional individual to begin working immediately as a Development and Communications Assistant. This is an extraordinary opportunity to build relationships and collaborate with executive management while providing a full range of support to the Development Team and the President/CEO. The right candidate for this opportunity will receive professional mentoring and exposure to local, regional and national leaders in the areas of economic development and immigrant integration.

The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians connects newly arrived individuals from around the world with the economic opportunities that they need to succeed in our region. Since opening our doors in 2003, we have assisted more than 9,000 people from over 140 countries. Our mission is clear — to be a centralized employment and referral center for the region’s growing immigrant community by promoting immigrant participation in the area’s political, social, and economic life.
Responsibilities
In this newly created position, the Development and Communications Assistant will report directly to the President/CEO and the Director of Development. He/she will: Have primary responsibility for researching potential corporate, foundation, and individual donor prospects Coordinate and accompany President/CEO to meetings with donors, and manage follow-up communications Collaborate with executive management team on developing new funding sources, Coordinate the gathering and broadcasting of stories about our work using digital and print media Assist in the management of social networking and digital media campaigns Assist with grant writing and event planning.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and excel in the following areas: Written and oral communication skills Intuitive and analytical thinking Ability to manipulate text and graphics Ability to post video and audio content on the Internet Common sense and interpersonal skills Ability to follow instructions and work independently Organizational skills
This is a full-time position that will require attendance at morning, evening and weekend events.
