Frankford revitalization advanced with arts initiative
The Philadelphia City Planning Commission has unveiled Destination Frankford, an arts-based initiative in the Lower Northeast Philadelphia.
The concept will engage residents, business owners, and artists in the Frankford neighborhood to create vibrant public spaces and highlight the community’s growing arts scene.
Destination Frankford uses the concept of creative placemaking—a people-centered approach to planning rooted in community-based participation—to enhance and expand the resources of the Frankford community. The effort will capitalize on Frankford’s industrial heritage and its growing arts and design community to create a distinctive, clear image of Frankford as a place for creative, entrepreneurial businesses.
