Deputy Director for Community Engagement

The Deputy Director for Community Engagement is a position intended to lead efforts, leverage partnership and align programs in Philadelphia neighborhoods. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for providing strategic and supervisory support for the SERVE Philadelphia program within The Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service. This position reports directly to the Chief Service Officer.
This position will oversee the Impact Service team which consists of directly managing two Impact Service Managers. Six Impact Service Organizers will serve as direct reports to Impact Service Managers, but are still ultimately managed with the scope of this position.
Characteristics of a successful applicant include: a minimum of five-to-seven years of work experience in community organizing, government and/or non-profits; commitment to service; experience in managing programs, including supervising staff and ensuring program impact; experience coalition building, excellent oral and written communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills; ability to create and oversee the implementation of realistic action plans; ability to build and work as a team.
