Demonstration Farmer, Greensgrow Farm

FARMER WANTED

Greensgrow Farm in Philadelphia is hiring a Demonstration Farmer for their main location in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia.

The Demonstration Farmer will be responsible for all food production operations for a half-acre urban farm, including, but not limited to high tunnel production, intensive field plantings, IPM systems, composting and waste reduction strategies, and tool and equipment maintenance.

Demonstration Farmer will also work with Greensgrow Farm Manager to advance Greensgrow’s sustainability and education projects, including, but not limited to green roofs, stormwater management, recycling, beekeeping, and coordinating site visits from schools and other organizations.

Required
2-3 years organic farm management experience
Experience with intensive high-tunnel production
Excellent writing and public speaking skills
Excellent communication and team-working skills
Drivers License and excellent driving record
Willingness to work some weekends for special events

Preferred
Carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems knowledge
Experience with vermicomposting, beekeeping, and/or cut flower production
Experience operating large trucks, forklifts, and other heavy machinery

Compensation
This is a full-time, year-round, hourly position. Pay rate will be based on experience. Position is eligible for health benefits after 12 months.
