Delaware County Bar Association: Virtual Youth Court Seminar – May 13
Posted by The Cahn Collaborative on May 11, 2021
A coalition of partners under the umbrella of the Cahn Collaborative is planning a virtual youth court seminar with the support of the Delaware County Bar Association for Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This program is open to attorneys, educators and others interested in the restorative, trauma sensitive youth court model used to help break the school to prison pipeline. Delaware County school districts, from Chester-Upland to Upper Darby, from William Penn to Garnet Valley, are working with youth court as an alternative model of school discipline.
The event builds on a May 2019 program that brought nearly 100 to the Delco Bar for a training on youth court in schools. This seminar, with CLE (2 ethics and 2 substantive) for lawyers and Act 48 for educators, will explore how the school based youth courts can be used to create a model juvenile justice youth court program in Delaware County and beyond.
