Deeply Rooted: When The King Comes Home, Film Screening, Discussion, and Community Building – Feb 23
Posted by Drexel University on February 7, 2023
More than 20,000 black men in Pennsylvania are detained in Pennsylvania state prisons. When adding the population in jails in Pennsylvania, this number exceeds 35,000 men. At some point, these men return to their home communities. Often called re-entry, how we understand and embrace the realities of incarceration and return tells us about who we are as a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community. The Centennial Parkside CDC, in collaboration with the ReAwakening Agency, have produced a documentary film on reentry and the opportunity to reduce future incarceration.
Drexel’s HUB invites you to join the Drexel Community in this screening of Deeply Rooted: When the King Comes Home. Attendees are invited to participate in discussion and community building following the screening. Refreshments will be served.
Date and Time: Thursday, February 23, 2023, 4:30–7:00 PM
Location: Drexel’s Carriage Building, 3509 Spring Garden, Room C204, Philadelphia, PA 19104
