Data Specialist (VISTA)

EducationWorks (EW) seeks a Data Specialist VISTA (Volunteer In Service to America). This VISTA will work with and report to the EducationWorks’ Evaluation Specialist and will be responsible for gathering, compiling, analyzing and presenting data about EW’s various programs and operations. Such data are used for organizational growth and development, program improvement, reports to funders, and proposals for funding.

The Data Specialist VISTA will also assist in expanding the role of external stakeholders in evaluation and will explore additional avenues for collecting quality data from youth. Finally, the VISTA will contribute stories to the monthly EducationWorks newsletter and may assist in other organizational tasks.

This position is for one year, beginning mid-August 2011. The Data Specialist VISTA will work out of the Lawrenceville, NJ office.

This is an AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) position with a monthly living allowance of $977 before taxes; health care; partial child care if eligible; relocation allowance up to $500 if eligible; education award of $5,350 at completion of year; student loan forbearance and one year accrued interest paid on loans.

VISTA provides full-time members to nonprofit, faith-based and other community organizations, and public agencies to create and expand programs that bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty. AmeriCorps*VISTA members leverage human, financial, and material resources to increase the capacity of thousands of low-income areas across the country to address challenges and improve their lives and communities.

REQUIREMENTS: Advanced proficiency in Excel; Basic knowledge in statistics; Excellent writing skills; Understanding of urban education programs.
