CUMU Conference: Working Together Works: Partnering for Progress

Posted by on August 13, 2012

How do a university and a city work together?

Chattanooga has come a long way since Walter Cronkite declared it “the dirtiest city in America.” So exactly how did Chattanooga become the “Best Town Ever” by Outside magazine and “one of the six cities worldwide that work” by U.S. News and World Report?

The answer:  partnerships.

Join us in Chattanooga, “one of the six cities you must visit in 2012” (The New York Times), for the 2012 conference of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities, October 13-16, hosted by The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Hear from city and university leaders how Chattanoogans worked together to turn the future of their city around and learn from presentations, posters, and exhibits what other campuses are doing.

The conference theme of “Working Together Works: Partnering for Progress” will highlight how university and community partnerships enrich student learning, encourage outreach by the university, and create projects and academic opportunities that involve the local community.
