Posted by Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine on January 28, 2020
The PCOM Cultural Competency Program (CCP) is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Cultural Humility in Medicine Symposium that will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, sponsored by the PCOM Office of Diversity and Community Relations, the PCOM Office of Student Affairs, and the PCOM Office of Admissions. In an ever-changing and diverse world, it is imperative now more than ever for providers to effectively deliver health care services that meet the social, cultural, and linguistic needs of their patients. This event aims to explore the social issues which fuel discrimination, bias, and neglect within the health care system. The committee has prepared an exciting day focused on enhancing cultural understanding, competency, and humility in medicine! Topics will include microaggressions and biases, religious awareness, approaches to patients with disabilities, military health and more!
