SUMMARY
The Credit and Housing Counselor delivers options and recommendations to a client after a thorough review of the client’s current and future financial circumstances, which may include credit and housing issues. By counseling and educating the client, the Counselor can best represent Clarifi’s mission to create hope by helping people identify and secure the most important assets in their lives. The Counselor will document all recommendations in an individualized action plan and, through effective communications, help each client understand the role he or she plays in the success of the plan. The Counselor may be located in a Clarifi branch office. In that case, he or she may have additional responsibilities regarding the facility, maintenance, and administrative requirements of the respective branch.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in housing/credit counseling, mortgage servicing, or loan workout. This should include experience with individual borrower financial/budget analysis and customer service.
Experience and certification in state, city, or county mortgage diversion or mediation programs strongly preferred.
HECM certification preferred.
Bachelor’s (B.A.) or Associates degree preferred.
Computer literacy, including the ability to use the internet and e-mails, and proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel required. Experience with HCO and Counselor Max is a plus.
Ability to obtain pertinent client information, analyze financial and asset data, and understand the client’s goals in order to determine the client’s options and assist the client in making informed decisions on his or her options.
Capability in maintaining confidentiality of borrower communications and information.
Strong verbal communications skills needed in order to interpret information and respond clearly to questions and concerns and present information that is clear to the client. Ability to speak and understand languages other than English is preferred.
Solid written communication abilities in order to read and interpret written information and write effective business communications needed.
