A conference to create safe, welcoming, and affirming spaces for LGBTQ students, families, and educators.
About the Conference
Arcadia University’s School of Education proudly hosts the fourth annual Creating Safe and Welcoming Schools Conference on Friday, September 30 on our campus in the University Commons, Great Room. The conference is 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes a continental breakfast and light lunch for registered participants. Check-in begins at 8 a.m.
Engage with professionals for a day devoted to explore:
- Innovative work with high school students leading diversity training for middle school students
- Research and practices for addressing gender nonconforming/gender expansive children in preschool/early childhood settings
- Opportunity for LGBTQ identified educators to meet and talk together about the joys and challenges of their work
- Musical approaches to gender expansive education for early childhood populations
- Opportunity to discuss creating and implementing gender/trans inclusive policies in schools/districts
- Opportunity to learn to effectively support LGBTQ college students
- Original theatrical work exploring issues faced by trans/gender nonconforming individuals
- This year’s Keynote speaker, Jeanne Stanley, Psychologist, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist, national trainer, and former director of two graduate counseling programs.
