Creating and Supporting Successful Mentor Matches
Posted by on June 18, 2007
Mentor program coordinators and staff know that the mentor-mentee relationship is at the heart of every successful mentoring program. Are you looking for tools to support and sustain mentor-mentee matches in your program? Would you like strategies for handling common pitfalls and communication challenges?
The LEARNS partners invite you to attend Keeping the Relationship Alive: Creating and Supporting Successful Mentor Matches. This daylong pre-conference session to the National Conference on Volunteering and Service in Philadelphia will be offered on Sunday, July 15, 2007.
Participants will leave with:
*An understanding of the characteristics and needs of youth in disadvantaged circumstances
*Considerations for making successful mentor/mentee matches
*Strategies for match retention
*Techniques for ongoing mentor/mentee support and monitoring
*Approaches for dealing effectively with common challenges
The cost of registration for the pre-conference session is $50, which covers lunch and materials. It is possible to register for the pre-conference only, but priority is given to conference attendees.
