Colin Higgins Foundation Seeks Nominations for Courage Awards
Deadline: July 16, 2004
The Colin Higgins Foundation (<a href="http://www.colinhiggins.org/">http://www.colinhiggins.org/</a>), a leader in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) philanthropy, is accepting nominations for its annual Courage Awards.
Through the program, the foundation salutes, celebrates, and fosters courage in the face of adversity and discrimination by awarding grants to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning (LGBTQQ) youth who have bravely stood up to hostility and intolerance based on their sexual orientation and triumphed over bigotry; adults who have made a strong impact in the lives of LGBTQQ youth or the overall LGBTQ movement; and allies of any age working to end homophobia and discrimination against LGBTQ communities.
In 2004, two to three Courage Award honorees will each receive a $5,000 grant and sponsorship to attend the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Creating Change conference (<a href="http://www.thetaskforce.org/cc/index.cfm">http://www.thetaskforce.org/cc/index.cfm</a>),
November 10-14, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Self-nominations are not accepted. See the Colin Higgins Foundation Web site for nomination guidelines and forms.
