Conversations on Art and Trauma
Posted by Philadelphia Mural Arts Program on April 18, 2016
**Free event, no tickets needed!**
At Mural Arts, we believe that art can be a useful tool for healing and empowerment, and can help us sort through the difficult emotions and experiences associated with traumatic moments or events.
Wednesday, April 27 at 7:30 PM – 9 PM
The University of the Arts, Elaine C. Levitt Auditorium, Gershman Hall
401 South Broad Street
Join two influential artists, Candy Chang (creator of the Before I Die participatory public art project and TED Senior Fellow) and Caledonia Curry, a.k.a. Swoon Studio (visual artist, printmaker, and founder of the Heliotrope Foundation) for a discussion on the power of art to confront and work through personal trauma. This conversation will be moderated by Jane Golden, executive director of The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program.
Light refreshments will be provided.
This free event is part of a series of public programs related to Candy Chang’s new mural project, The Atlas of Tomorrow, produced with The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program’s Porch Light department. Porch Light is funded by the City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services, and The Atlas of Tomorrow is made possible with additional support from the Hummingbird Foundation.
