Economy League sponsors ?America?s Great Mayors?
The Economy League of Greater Philadelphia is sponsoring a series of Profiles in Leadership to help inform the public debate as Philadelphia voters go to the polls to select the city?s next mayor. On April 18th, ELGP and the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania will hold a a conversation with John W. Hickenlooper, Mayor of Denver, named by TIME as one of America’s Top 5 Big City Mayors. Since taking office in 2001, Hickenlooper — a small businessman who had never before held public office — has led an ambitious slate of initiatives, including overcoming a $70 million deficit, initiating a campaign to end homelessness, creating Denver’s Sustainable Development Initiative, reducing crime by 10% in ’06, and passing the largest regional transit initiative in U.S. history. The event will take place on April 18th from 5:30-7:30pm at Loews Philadelphia Hotel, 1200 Market Street, and costs $35.00. Advance registration is required as space is limited.
