Description:
The Food Trust, founded in 1992, is a non-profit organization working to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food. The Food Trust is an organization experiencing significant growth in the last several years. We are in need of a controller who can take charge, make decisions and lead the team to meet the challenges of significant growth and respond to a dynamic environment with diverse revenue streams and ever changing program requirements.
Job responsibilities include:
• Monthly financial reporting including statement of activities, statement of financial position, cash projections, forecasting and grant reporting.
• Supervision of the accounting staff and all accounting transactions including monthly allocations and maintenance of internal controls.
• Coordination of annual audit including compliance to A-133 regulations, grants audits, tax filings including 990, BCO-10, BPT return, payroll returns of 941’s and W-2’s and 1099’s.
• Prepare annual budget for organization by grant, program and department.
• On demand responsibilities includes financial reports to grantors, review of program budgets and other miscellaneous reports necessary for creditors and other interested parties.
• Serve as a member of The Food Trust’s senior management and advise the Executive Director regarding the financial management of the organization
• Attend Finance Committee and Board of Directors’ meetings
• Establish and maintain best practices for the accounting department.
Qualifications
• Outstanding accounting and communication skills
• Positive Attitude and Professional demeanor
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft excel and Peachtree or similar accounting package a must
• Degree in accounting is required, CPA/MBA is desirable.
• 10+ years accounting experience with 5-7+ years in management
• Non-profit accounting or public experiences a plus, not required
