Content Creator, ASPIRA
Posted by ASPIRA on February 19, 2019
ASPIRA is seeking a creative online marketer to join the long term effort to transform North Philadelphia neighborhoods through quality education.
Thousands of local residents look to ASPIRA schools and programs as centers for progress. Strong, well-connected communities are a crucial part of our mission, and ASPIRA’s Content Creator will research, write and design to reach these communities and help make sure their progress can be recognized and become an example for more local leaders of all ages.
In addition to sharing stories about our students with the local community and the general public, the Communications Dept. also helps more than 800 staff members reach the right audiences to promote the countless initiatives and learning experiences which make ASPIRA Schools such special places to learn and grow. This position requires strong writing skills in English. While candidates who write well in Spanish will be highly valued, the ability to produce grammatically correct English writing samples without supervision is an absolute must.
The Content Creator should also be prepared to learn and apply basic graphic design. Previous design experience is not required. This position primarily involves the use of new media, and candidates should be familiar with the primary networks of the day. This staff member will occasionally assist the Communications Coordinator in contracting freelance professionals, producing traditional media (print, radio and television), managing community partnerships and crafting public relations pieces. Primarily, we need a strong writer who is excited to learn new skills each day while becoming an important member of great community of schools.
The staff member will work mainly out of the ASPIRA Headquarters in Hunting Park, but will often visit ASPIRA Schools to photograph and document activities for the purposes of creating news and content. This will require them to undergo the background checks which are needed for teachers and other full-time school staff members. Serious candidates will need to produce writing samples based on a random prompt while visiting ASPIRA during a second interview.
To submit a cover letter / resume, email [email protected] and include “Content Creator – (Your Last Name) in the subject line.
