Connecting With Stories From Black Communities, Pulitzer Center
Posted by Pulitzer Center on January 23, 2024
Though Black history should be embedded into historical learning year-round, February provides a special opportunity to incorporate more resources on Black history into your classroom or program, and celebrate the contributions Black Americans have made throughout U.S. history. As Black History Month is just around the corner, we encourage you to start planning now to connect your students with stories from Black communities, individuals, and the diaspora.
We’re offering free virtual journalist visits for classroom and out-of-school time educators worldwide, as well as educators working with students in carceral facilities, in celebration of Black History Month. Featured journalists can meet with your class via Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or other platforms to share their reporting on racial justice and the many global issues that intersect with it. Speakers can also share insights into journalism skills and careers.
Click below to explore the list of featured speakers who would love to visit your classroom or program, and fill out a quick form to request your visit. We look forward to hearing from you!
