The Achieving Independence Center (AIC) is a “one-stop center” designed to help young people, ages 16-21, from the dependent (foster care) system achieve their future goals of self-sufficiency.
The Computer Lab Assistant is mainly responsible for:
1) Monitoring and assist youth using computer hardware and software for a variety of tasks, including job search, homework and other assignments.
2) Providing reference material to youth in areas of education, employment, housing, life skills and other areas related to independent living.
3) Maintain lab equipment by cleaning disk drives, monitors, keyboards, and other lab hardware.
4) Securing all computer classrooms.
The ideal candidate will possess:
A commitment to positive youth development and a strengths-based approach.
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite.
Training in (or willingness to learn) adventure-based counseling techniques.
Coursework in Education, Human Services, Social Work, Information Technology or other related field.
Child Abuse, Criminal Background and FBI clearances.
Available early evenings and weekends.
Enjoys working with teens.
