A qualified paid instructor is needed for Saturday morning classes to teach computer skills to high school juniors from West Philadelphia and John Bartram High Schools beginning in September 2003. The program has been in operation for eight years. There are two 2 hour sessions held each Saturday at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia at 42nd and Woodland Avenue. Fifteen students attend each session.

While the program focuses on the development of computer literacy, it also strongly emphasizes the development of interpersonal skills, self-discipline, reliability and pride in accomplishment. The primary goals of the program are to provide teenagers with the necessary incentives, support, discipline and computer skills to prepare them for meaningful careers and post secondary education. This program is being expanded to include a mentoring component to provide on-going support and assistance with the development of their career plans following the completion of their computer training.

We are seeking an instructor who will be reliable (attend each session and be on time), who has the ability to motivate teenagers, who will take a personal interest in the success of each student and who is familiar with the software that is included in the curriculum. A competitive salary is offered. The curriculum includes the following major topics:
