ATTN K-12 Schools: Application to host AmeriCorps VISTAs

Posted by PHENND on November 24, 2014

PHENND is pleased to invite traditional public schools in Philadelphia to apply for a Community Partnerships Coordinator VISTA position for a start date of August 2015. The AmeriCorps VISTAs will coordinate and facilitate partnerships between the host school and existing and/or potential outside community partners with the goal of well integrating services into the school’s schedule and meeting major school needs, thereby ensuring that these partnerships are mutually beneficial, sustainable and serving students effectively.

A complete job description of the Community Partner Coordinator position, a list of Frequently Asked Questions, and the link to the application itself can be found here:

This will be the third year of this program and we are hoping to expand our program by adding 3-4 schools to our roster of hosts. The most successful candidates will clearly articulate in their application how they will use the Community Partnerships Coordinator VISTA position to help them achieve their school improvement objectives. We are also trying to build on initial success by clustering positions in targeted neighborhoods. For this round, the strongest applications will come from schools in Kensington, West Philadelphia, North Philadelphia and South Philadelphia

Finalists may be selected to receive a site visit in the early spring. Final decisions will be determined by the end of March by the review committee, which includes representatives from PHENND’s advisory board, AmeriCorps and the School District.

Note: You can save your responses on the application and return to it as you need to complete it. We ask that you complete your responses no later than February 15, 2015. Please note: There is an option to include a letter of recommendation from a community partner.

Please feel free to contact the Eden Kainer with any questions or concerns you may have about the application process at 215-573-2379 or [email protected]
