Resources for Human Development (RHD) (http://www.rhd.org) is a large and diverse nonprofit social service agency headquartered in Philadelphia, with 160 programs in 15 states. The mission of RHD is to provide caring, effective, efficient, and innovative services that support people to overcome obstacles and build meaningful lives for themselves, as well as strengthen relationships with their families, and the communities in which they live. Since 1970, RHD’s multi-faceted programs have served people with a variety of challenges, including developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance abuse, poverty, and homelessness. SUMMARY: The Community Outreach/Marketing Coordinator will work primarily in the field with local businesses, business associations, neighborhood associations, churches, community/civic organizations and the community at large in raising awareness of Equal Dollars Community Currency and expanding Equal Dollars Community Currency by increasing their participation in the system. The work will primarily focus in the Philadelphia area, but may include marketing and outreach activities or organizational planning for marketing activities in areas outside of the Philadelphia area, i.e. Lancaster or Chester counties. In carrying out this mission, the Community Outreach/Marketing Coordinator will constantly promote Equal Dollars Community Currency as a viable and dignified tool for exchanges of goods and services within communities, and serve as a liaison/coach for Equal Dollars Community Currency with businesses and community organizations. The successful candidate is a highly motivated community conscious professional with a passion and proven track record in community economic development. They must have an understanding of the culture of both the local business community as well as various community neighborhoods and organizations. They should be able to recognize opportunities and respond quickly and positively to take advantage of these opportunities. The Community Outreach/Marketing Coordinator reports to the Equal Dollars Community Currency Director but should also be able to interact with the Equal Dollars Community Currency team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Conduct outreach, build relationships and recruit new members from local businesses, business associations, neighborhood associations, churches, community/civic organizations, the community at large, etc.
• Assist neighborhood groups in engaging their constituents in understanding how Equal Dollars Community Currency is a viable tool that compliments the US dollar acquiring goods and services. Groups include block and neighborhood associations, churches, civic organizations, community development corporations, tenant associations, etc.
• Assist neighborhood groups in identifying and coordinating community service projects in which their constituents as well as current Equal Dollar community members can earn equal dollars for serviced performed.
• Assist businesses in identifying how, what, and when they can accept Equal Dollars for goods and/or services provided.
• Provide technical assistance to businesses on how to use the Equal Dollars Credit Exchange System to exchange goods and services to other businesses.
• Organize community meetings and events as necessary
• Attend targeted after work networking events as needed
• Create flyers, press release and other outreach materials as needed.
• Update website and organize content and distribute monthly electronic newsletter
• Set up, build and foster relationships with Facebook and Twitter following
• Assist with identification and development of neighborhood Equal Dollar Distribution Centers

Preferred Requirements
• A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, economics, community development or related fields.
• Position requires initiative, resourcefulness experience as a “self starter”
• Knowledge and experience in community organizing. Familiarity with community development principles and tools that strengthen community participation.
• Experience planning and facilitating meetings and working with community leaders and volunteers of diverse backgrounds.
• Some sales experience preferably in B2B in the Philadelphia community
• Effective verbal and written communication skills. Experience in establishing professional and well organized communication with community and business leaders.
• Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and as a team player
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with sales quotas and goals
• Personable and comfortable with speaking in front of people one-on-one or to groups
• Own car and mobile phone.
• Comfortable cold-calling prospects to gain appointments
• Comfortable using Windows-based database for prospecting and basic MS Office for word processing and PowerPoint for creating proposals and presentations.

Salary & Benefits
Up to 50K/annually, with up to 50% to be paid out in Equal Dollars. Comprehensive benefits package provided.
