Community Organizing Grants

Catholic bishops support economic development
Established in 1969, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Catholic Campaign for Human Development offers grants that assist poor and low-income people through organizing and economic development.
This year, CCHD is reminding grant-seekers of a second effort, the Community Organizing Grants. These grants support projects in which poor, marginalized or homeless people are empowered by joining together to make decisions, seeking solutions to local problems, and finding ways to improve their lives and neighborhoods.
These projects assist individuals to develop as community leaders and to mobilize the community’s resources.
Community Organizing grants range from $10,000 to $50,000 each.
CCHD is committed to supporting groups of low-income individuals as they work to break the cycle of poverty and improve their communities. By helping the poor to participate in the decisions and actions that affect their lives, CCHD empowers them to move beyond poverty. CCHD does not determine funding based on religious or denominational affiliation.
