Community Organizer, Hawthorne Empowerment Coalition

We are looking for someone who has the skills, vision, and enthusiasm to expand and maintain resident participation in the Hawthorne Empowerment Coalition (HEC) and related community groups such as Friends Groups for our parks and a Town Watch organization. Our goals include building social networks and facilitating connections to resources to make the community safer and stronger. The organizer will be directed by the board of the HEC.
Some community contacts and meetings will take place in the evening.
The position is temporary, up to one year, and may be extended. Those seeking college credit for the work will be supervised and receive appropriate evaluations at the end of the contract period.
Location: Hawthorne neighborhood, Philadelphia, PA
