Community Organizer
Friends of the Free Library of Phila. (FFL) is seeking a full time, experienced Community Organizer who will play an important role within the organization. The community organizing responsibilities consists of hands-on work in a variety of city neighborhoods in order to develop library Friends Groups where none currently exist; strengthen newly established and transitioning groups and for providing technical support, leadership, and assistance as needed. The organizer will work in tandem with, and report to, the Executive Director in order to develop and implement goals and strategies for Friends Groups as set forth in the Strategic Plan and in the organization’s manual Library Friends; a Best Practices Manual.
The work requires some nights and Saturdays and the ability to travel throughout the city. Preference goes to those candidates who have a current drivers license and access to a car.
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of Philadelphia’s neighborhoods, both affluent and poor, and experience activating residents.
