Job Description ? Community Nutritionist

Salary Range: $36,000-40,000 DOQ
Supervisor: NEN Team Leader
Work Location: Harrisburg PA

Qualifications
? Certification as registered dietician (RD) and/or Masters degree in nutrition preferred
? Strong writing skills
? Strong coordinating skills
? Aptitude for team-oriented goal setting and implementation
? Work experience in consultative environment
? Solid verbal presentation skills
? Motivated by potential of nutrition education to improve life for food insecure households
? Able and willing to engage in frequent overnight travel using own vehicle

Duties
1. Build public support for nutrition education (20 percent)
? Support the planning and completion of research related to nutrition education by facilitating the interface between researchers, practitioners and consumers.
? Seek opportunities to elicit public interest in healthful nutrition through relationships with nutrition professionals, public officials, the media and other opinion-leaders.
? Exploit those opportunities in a way that furthers the cause of nutrition education.

2. Support the Nutrition Education Network?s public communications. (30 percent)
? Raise Network?s public profile through the creation and publication of print and electronic communications.
? Participate in the oversight of Network?s website and newsletter with attention to both professional content and overall quality.
? Assist social marketing staff at Penn State University with planning and implementation of Network?s social marketing initiatives.

3. Strengthen the professional aspect of the PA Nutrition Education Network (40 percent)
? Plan and implement events that:
– strengthen the professional competence of members & practitioners;
– attract new nutrition professionals and practitioners to the Network.
? Represent the Network in public forums and private meetings where the course of nutrition education in Pennsylvania is being shaped.
? Consult with PANEP practitioners regarding issues in their projects.
? Provide feedback and counsel to the administrative staff of the PANEP regarding the development of PANEP project standards and protocols.

4. Participate in the State Nutrition Action Plan (SNAP) (10 percent)
? Contribute to the formation and implementation of the SNAP.
? Implement the Network?s part of the SNAP.
