Community Learning Network at Temple University

The Community Learning Network (CLN), Temple’s home for community-based learning, has a new website with a new look and new functions, including a searchable database. Now students, faculty, and partner organizations can learn about available courses, course development, how to partner with Temple and much more at http://www.temple.edu/vpus/cln. Among its many resources, the site includes a database of partner organizations, links for clearances, and features on some of the great community building work happening around the university.

The new site follows news that the CLN is now a permanent part of Temple University. Peter Jones, Senior Vice Provost of Undergraduate Studies, welcomed the CLN to his portfolio at the start of this fiscal year (2011-2012). Jones welcomes new partnership as a natural fit that expands the range of opportunity for students to develop undergraduate pathways that are rich in community based coursework and experience.

Since its inception in April 2010, the CLN had operated on a grant from the Provost’s office. With this new reporting line the office will become a more ingrained part of the university. The relationship opens up more opportunities for collaboration, including our latest initiative to designate Community Based Learning (CBL) courses in the course catalog.
