Community Immersion Teacher Development
Posted by Alliance for Community Teachers and Schools on May 25, 2015
In their fourth year of operation, Dr. Peter Murrell, Jessica Strauss, Maritza Dominguez and Rachel Carlson of the Alliance for Community Teachers and Schools are co-authors of a chapter in a book concerning the value of community immersion development in teacher excellence. In our theoretical and practical model development, we seek to publish at several levels in the process – theoretical, model design, collective model development and pilot evaluation. These pieces take a long time from writing to publication, but we are excited that the public dissemination of innovative models of school transformation is underway!
Stay tuned for several model design and model development articles this fall! You can find the chapter “Community Immersion Teacher Development: Pragmatic Knowledge of Family and Community in Professional Field-based Practice” in Etta Hollins, Editor, Rethinking Field Experiences in Pre-service Teacher Preparation, Routledge, 2015.
