Community Health Worker Peer opportunity for youth victims of violent injury

Job training available to youth victims of violent injury at Drexel

The Center for Nonviolence and Social Justice/Healing Hurt People at Drexel University’s School of Public Health has developed a program to train men, ages 18-30, who have experienced violent injury in their own lives to become Community Health Worker Peers/Certified Peer Specialists.

Individuals who complete the training will be eligible to apply for a full-time paid position as a Community Health Worker Peer at the Healing Hurt People program in the Center for Nonviolence and Social Justice. Participants will be paid their time in the training, as well as supported with job readiness skills training and transportation assistance as needed.

We are currently accepting applications for the CHWP/CPS Training Academy- the basic requirements for eligibility are:

* identify as male
* ages 18-30
* lived experience of violence (either to themselves or someone close to them)
* HS diploma or GED
* willing to commit to 9 weeks of training (4 days per week, Monday, Tuesday Wednesday, Thursday)
