Community Engagement: The Community Connector Program
Posted by Philadelphia Association of CDCs on January 26, 2015
One of the most essential building blocks of neighborhood revitalization – and often the most difficult to achieve — is community engagement. Engagement encourages buy-in and trust and it is often the starting point to build leadership and activism.
CDCs such as The Enterprise Center CDC, People’s Emergency Center and Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha are building innovative approaches to this work through their Community Connector Programs. This session will help you understand diverse best practices of engagement, learn how to sustain engagement with limited resources, and build on community engagement to achieve neighborhood organizing goals.
Guest speaker: Belinda Mayo, Director of Neighborhood Program Coordination for the Philadelphia Office of Housing and Community Development
Presented in partnership with Philadelphia Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC).
