Chesapeake Bay Trust Invites Applications for Community Engagement Grants
The Chesapeake Bay Trust is accepting applications for its Mini Grants Program for Community Engagement.
The annual program is designed to engage Maryland residents in activities designed to enhance their communities, engage their fellow citizens, and improve the stewardship of natural resources in the state. Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to projects such as community gardens that encourage use of the outdoors and education about natural resources; community clean-ups that benefit both communities and local waterways; projects such as storm drain stenciling or rain barrel installations that combine art with an increased awareness of stormwater issues; community greening projects, which have been shown to beautify communities, improve air quality and health, and reduce crime; and projects such as pollinator habitat plantings and rain gardens that beautify communities, capture rainwater, and improve wildlife habitat.
Matching funds are encouraged but not required.
To be eligible, applicants must be a nonprofit organization; community association; faith-based organization; service or civic group; or municipal, county, regional, state, or federal public agency. The trust seeks to engage groups that have traditionally been underengaged with environmental issues, as well as new applicants and organizations from diverse communities.
See the CBT website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
