Submissions sought for Community Driven Research Day
The Philadelphia Collaborative Violence Prevention Center, the Center for Public Health Initiatives at the University of Pennsylvania, and the Office of the Provost at Temple University have announced Community Driven Research Day on October 28th.
CDRD encourages collaboration between university-based research partners and community based organizations and community groups who have questions that they are interested in answering about violence prevention and the built environment. Through an interactive poster session, CBOs and community groups will highlight their questions to program participants who will include area non-profits, community groups, public sector partners, and researchers from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, The University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, Drexel University, and other local academic institutions.
CBOs, community groups, academic researchers, and students will be able to meet and discuss potential collaborations at this event.
Community groups will lead the event by raising questions based on their specific research needs and interests. Through a poster presentation, community groups will display a program description and identify research questions of interest.
Organizations and community groups are invited to submit their request to participate in the poster presentation by completing a Community Based Organization/Community Group Submission Form (http://hosted.uwsepa.org/newsletter/submissionform.doc). Space is limited. Organizations will be notified of the status of their submission in early October. Accepted summaries will be published in a CDRD compendium. The deadline for submissions is October 1st.
To help organizations prepare their submissions, a Research Readiness Day will be held on Thursday, September 16th. Two sessions will be held, from noon to 3pm and 4-7pm at a location to be announced at Temple University.
