Community Driven Research and Social Change in the National Capital Region

The 2006 Conference on Community Driven Research and Social Change in the National Capital Region: “Transforming DC through Community Based Learning and Research” is an interdisciplinary conference of the Community Research and Learning (CoRAL) Network.

This year’s conference will bring together faculty, students and community change agents to present findings and foment discussion on the importance of community-based learning and research on critical social justice issues such as: arts/multi – media; language & cross cultural studies; alternative spring breaks; funding & philanthropy; managing partnerships for CBLR; pedagogy; humanities & literature; natural sciences & math; fatih based organization and non-traditonal students.

DATE: Saturday, April 29th, 2006

LOCATION: American University, mary Graydon Center
4400 Massachusettes Avenue NW, Washington DC 20016

CONFERENCE FORMAT: morning keynote speaker banquet, 10 concurrent sessions, poster/exhibits and lunch session, then closing plenary.

PROCEEDINGS: from the 2006 conference will be published online. For an extra charge, the proceedings may be ordered in paperback.

FEES: registration fees start at $35 dollars for faculty and community members. The registration fee is waived for all students (must show valid ID). Nonprofits can pay a flat fee (call 202-371-9105 for more information). Registration open.
