CALL FOR ENTRIES – 40″ by 40″ Boards for Exhibition March-June 2005
Registration Deadline: Thursday, January 27, 2005
The Community Design (http://www.cdesignc.org/) Collaborative of AIA Philadelphia is seeking entries for an exhibition that will explore the connection between architecture and community. Community Design Matters: Architecture & Community promotes an appreciation of architecture, the work commissioned by nonprofits in community settings, and the dedication of design professionals to building community. The exhibition will run from March-June 2005 in the Community Gallery of The Philadelphia Foundation(http://www.philafound.org/), 1234 Market Street, Philadelphia.
Eligibility
Architecture, landscape design, and planning firms commissioned by area community-based nonprofits are eligible to participate. Area Universities’ design centers are also invited to submit projects that engaged community-based nonprofits. Projects must be submitted by an authorized principal or partner. Submissions can include built and unbuilt projects in the categories of arts and culture, education and child care, economic development, housing and community development, open space and recreation, faith-based or social services. Nonprofit clients may include but are not limited to: Community Development Corporations, social service agencies, and faith-based organizations.
Projects commissioned by hospitals, and colleges and universities will not be considered for this exhibition.
Exhibit Registration, Fee & Schedule
To be considered, the exhibit registration and a nonrefundable fee of $25 per project must be received by the Design Collaborative no later than 5pm, January 27. Confirmations will be communicated no later than February 5. The Collaborative reserves the right to select exhibitors via a jury of peers on the basis of design excellence, client and community collaboration, community impact, and potential for broader application. 40″ by 40″ exhibition boards must be delivered to the Philadelphia Foundation for installation March 6, 2005. Exhibitors and client groups will be invited to participate in an opening reception.
