The Community Design Collaborative offers you access to skilled help– the architects, landscape architects, preservationists, interior designers, urban planners, engineers, and cost estimators who donate their skills through the Collaborative. We provide the following preliminary design services:
building surveys
site evaluations
assessments of structural, mechanical, and electrical systems
opinions of probable cost
analyses of space needs
programming and space planning
conceptual design
assistance writing requests for proposals
renderings
The Collaborative provides grants of services in the form of projects, half-day consultations, and charettes. A project of offers package of preliminary design services. A half-day consultation is an evaluation of an existing building by a senior level architect,engineer, and cost estimator to determine whether it is a good candidate for a proposed project. A charette is a brainstorming session to explore design alternatives for a development project.
The Collaborative reviews applications for services on a quarterly basis, working directly with nonprofits to determine preliminary design needs. To be considered for technical assistance a nonprofit must submit a complete application by the deadline for work in the following quarter. To determine eligibility and download applications see
