Salary: $50,000- $55,000 DOE plus benefits
The National Community Land Trust Network seeks a Community & Capacity Building Associate to help implement the Network’s capacity building program for our members which include nonprofits, community land trusts (CLTs) and other permanently affordable housing (PAH) organizations such as inclusionary housing programs. The Network’s capacity building program provides CLT and PAH practitioners with access to grants, technical assistance, online tools and resources, and training opportunities (both place-based and virtual). We strive to provide quality training and technical assistance to organizations and practitioners at all levels of knowledge and experience.
The Community & Capacity Building Associate will be responsible for developing and implementing two new initiatives as well as contributing to existing components of the capacity building program.
“Start-up” Program for CLTs and Permanently Affordable Housing Programs
The Network provides support to communities and organizations interested in starting a CLT or PAH program or adopting a CLT or PAH model (in the case of existing organizations). The end goal of this initiative is to increase the number of CLTs and permanently affordable homes on the ground. The Community and Capacity Building associate will be responsible for expanding the Network’s start-up program and services through such activities as: 1) identifying communities and organizations interested in starting or adopting a CLT; 2) responding to help desk requests for information or technical assistance; 3) creating online tools and resources to build out the Network’s start-up hub; 4) assisting with curriculum development and delivery (both online and in-person); and 5) providing administrative support.
National CLT Network Resident Advisory Committee
The Resident Advisory Committee will be comprised of residents in the affordable housing provided by Network members. The purposes of the Resident Advisory Committee are to: 1) develop resident leadership among the Network and its members; 2) provide resident perspectives and input to the Network’s board of directors; 3) create an infrastructure for effective political advocacy; and 4) provide training on resident and community engagement to practitioners. The Community and Capacity Building Associate will be responsible for designing and implementing the Network’s Resident Advisory Committee through such activities as: 1) visioning with colleagues and committee members around committee goals and work; 2) recruiting and retaining committee members; 3) providing staffing support to committee meetings and activities; 4) engaging committee members in policy calls to action; 5) serving as a connection between the Resident Advisory Committee and Network leadership; and 6) providing administrative support.
As part of the Network team, the Community & Capacity Building Associate will also contribute to the work led by other staff members such as providing content and logistical support to the national conference, coordinating with partners, assisting with the Network’s policy agenda and helping with communications. This position requires up to 30% travel.
