American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Invites Applications for Community-Based Initiatives
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) Foundation is committed to supporting community-based initiatives that provide dental care and ultimately serve as a “dental home” to underserved/limited access children. The AAPD defines a “dental home” as the ongoing relationship between dentist and patient, inclusive of all aspects of oral health care, delivered in a comprehensive, continuously accessible, coordinated, and family-centered way.
To that end, the foundation is inviting applications for its Access to Care Grants program. Thorough the program, grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded in support of community-based initiatives that provide dental care and ultimately serve as a dental home to underserved/limited access children age 18 and under. The foundation encourages requests from organizations serving all children and also welcomes proposals for initiatives providing dental care to individuals with special health care needs.
Special consideration will be given to initiatives supporting the age-one dental visit; those emphasizing care to patients up to age 5; those addressing the needs of specific underserved demographic groups; and those incorporating systemic health (i.e. diabetes, cancer, etc.).
Eligible applicants include tax-exempt nonprofit organizations defined under sections 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue code; local health jurisdictions; county health departments; hospitals and clinics; state government agencies; colleges/schools of dentistry; colleges/schools of medicine (pediatric and family medicine departments only); and national, state and local dental societies.
See the AAPD Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
