Community Arts Workshop: Narrative & Performance
Sundays 2:00-4:00 p.m.
January 14-March 4
University City Arts League (4226 Spruce Street) Taught/facilitated
by: Jess Levy
This class will draw on the methods of community-based arts to take participants through a process of developing and telling a story through art, with an emphasis on performance. The class will be structured as a participatory workshop within which participants will build basic performance skills, support each other in developing personal narratives, and conclude by weaving these narratives together into an informal public presentation (friends and family).
Ideal for school and community educators interested in leading community arts projects, people interested in incorporating the arts into social justice or social service work, or anyone with a story to tell who’s interested in performance as a means of expression. No performance experience necessary, but a willingness to experiment and play is required.
